Living Proof: From the Classroom to the Jobsite

The most common reaction we receive when telling others about the Construction Careers Now (CCN) program is that “It’s too good to be true.” When people hear about the following tenets and benefits of the program, wanting proof that CCN works is a natural human reaction.

  • Opportunity for a construction CAREER, not just another job
  • Free to participants
  • No experience needed
  • No GED required
  • Hiring fair included in every four-week program with leading local contractors in Colorado eager to hire

The proof is in the participation by construction contractors at the hiring fairs and the percentage of our graduates that are employed or are receiving free continued construction education to further their careers.

Mark Tennis is quoted as saying, “Numbers don’t lie. It’s an unusual and difficult feat.” Below are some numbers from CCN’s hiring fairs and how our graduates are the living proof that a new career in construction is attainable through our program.

  • 41 local construction contractors have participated thus far in our past three hiring fairs
  • 13 construction contractors have supported every hiring fair, including firms such as:
    1. BT Construction
    2. Colorado Construction Careers
    3. Concrete Frame Associates
    4. Cornerstone Coatings
    5. Gallegos
    6. Haselden Construction
    7. Hensel Phelps
    8. JE Dunn
    9. Mortenson Construction
    10. Saunders Construction
    11. Sheet Metal Workers Local #9
    12. Southwest Regional Council of Carpenters
    13. W.E. O’Neil
  • 72% of our September graduates are employed in construction and/or are pursuing continuing construction education
  • 50% of our October graduates are employed in construction and/or are pursuing continuing construction education or are still in the interview/decision phase.

For our November class, which just had their hiring fair on December 8th where 20 contractors participated, out of 52 graduates - 14 have already been employed (27% employment), 9 have been given an increase in hourly wage from their current employer (separate from those who were new hires) and 12 have stated that they have or will begin Union enrollment for more training and opportunities thru the WIN program or classes at Emily Griffith Technical College and many of the balance are still in the interview/decision phase. Our CCN recruiters, Erika Anderson and Jim Spence, actively follow up with CCN graduates to track their future employment and advancements in their careers.

Numbers don’t lie and our employed graduates are the living proof that the Construction Careers Now program works.
