Gov. Hickenlooper Proclaims Oct as Colorado Construction Careers Month

Gov Hickenlooper Proclamation

History was made this month with Governor John W. Hickenlooper officially proclaiming October as “Colorado Construction Careers Month.” In the proclamation, Gov. Hickenlooper highlighted the importance of the construction industry by noting:

  • Construction industry employs 5 million people in the U.S. and is one of the nation’s largest industries
  • Colorado, alone, needs to add another 30,000 new construction workers by 2018
  • Construction professionals play a pivotal role in the development and growth of Colorado

Construction Careers Now (CCN) is happy to celebrate this month of October and give participants the opportunity to fulfill the proclamations Gov. Hickenlooper set forth for the construction industry. CCN is intended to help raise awareness of the benefits of becoming a construction trade professional through introductions to the various skilled trades people can enter for a career in construction. CCN also brings in current construction professionals to the classes to inform participants of the hard work and dedication necessary to sustain a rewarding career in construction.

Most importantly, CCN hosts a hiring fair in every four-week program where participants are prepped on how to engage with potential employers, and mentored regarding the kind of skilled trade they would like to pursue. By bringing together contractors and potential employees (CCN graduates), CCN serves as a means to accomplish Gov. Hickenlooper’s goal to “highlight careers in the construction industry and provide a path for individuals to become trade professionals.”
